Adolescent Common Reactions to Sexual Violence

  • Having thoughts of the event come into your head when you don't want
    them to
  • Nightmares
  • Having a hard time sleeping
  • Changes in eating and appetite
  • Becoming upset when reminded of the trauma
  • Avoiding things that may remind you of the trauma
  • Not spending as much time or not wanting to spend time with friends
  • Feeling different from people your age
  • Having trouble having any feelings
  • Becoming frustrated or angry more easily or more often
  • Having trouble concentrating in school or every day activities
  • Not being interested in activities or hobbies that you used to do
  • Feeling sad or depressed
  • Feeling badly about yourself
  • Feeling that things will not work out of your future
  • Feeling others don't understand
  • Feeling that you don't care of things that are happening around you
