This 40 hour training will provide you with knowledge about sexual assault and how to provide crisis counseling to survivors. You will learn about adult rape, childhood sexual abuse, common reactions to trauma, the legal process, confidentiality, and crisis counseling skills.
The training is state certified by the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR). This training is open to adults over the age of 18 who are either interested in professional development or in becoming a WOAR volunteer. Please be aware this training will not cover treatment methods but offers a general overview of sexual violence and crisis intervention skills. Typically attendees have a high school diploma or a Bachelor's degree.

The training fees for volunteers are: $35 for students, $65 non-student. If you are not going to volunteer with WOAR but are seeking professional development the fee is $250. Payment is due by the first date of training.

Volunteer Orientations will be held to learn about the volunteer program and complete an interview. An interview must be completed to be considered for volunteering. You only need to attend one orientation. If you cannot attend one of the orientations please contact the office to schedule an interview time.
