Vote! Primary Election May 18, 2021
Vote in the May 18th, 2021 primary election to select the candidates for the November 2021 general election. The three candidates running for Philadelphia District Attorney have responded to WOAR’s questions about prosecution of sexual assault, human trafficking, child exploitation, racial bias, and other matters of concern. You can read WOAR’s questions and the candidates’ responses here. Let the candidates know that you care about victims of sexual assault, and sexual violence prevention, by speaking out, asking the candidates your own questions, and voting!
Share Your Story ~ NEW
WOAR is writing a report that sheds light on sexual violence against girls and young women in Philadelphia. We are collecting brief statements from survivors who identify as a female and experienced sexual assault before the age of 25. Through your story, you can make a difference by showing readers and policymakers the impact sexual violence has on real people. To participate, simply send us a few sentences that describe what happened, and the impact it had on your life. Statements can relate to any form of sexual violence, including groping, molestation, sexual harassment, rape, voyeurism, or anything else on the sexual violence continuum.
Please send submissions or questions to firstname.lastname@example.org, or you can email us to schedule a time to talk by telephone. Your privacy is of the utmost importance, so no real names will be used in the report. If you decide to share your story, what you share with us is completely up to you, and your name will be kept confidential.
We appreciate your participation in this important project!

Become a Public Survivor-Advocate ~ NEW
Some survivors choose to use their power of their voice and personal story to send a message about how sexual violence impacts lives. Through our Survivor Academy and speakers’ bureau, WOAR offers training to survivors who want to develop their advocacy skills and publicly speak out. Our current training class is full, but if you are interested in future opportunities, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with “Survivor Academy” in the subject line.
There are so many ways to support WOAR’s work. Let us know if you have a special skill that you would like to share, or time that you can donate to planning events, fundraising, or other tasks.
If you want to become a trained sexual assault counselor (SAC) and volunteer on our 24/7 hotline, our dedicated team could always use the help!
